Why Do I Keep Getting a “Trim not in Position" Message? EM-1010

PUBLISHED

This message means the trimming knife cannot return to its home position. This is usually due to a buildup of excess thread under the needle plate or bird nesting. Bird nesting is typically caused by loose top tension or incorrect machine threading.

Follow the steps below to resolve this issue...

To correct “trim not in position” error

  1. First, remove the two screws from the needle plate.
  2. If there is excess thread, remove it.
  3. Then, press the trim key to reset the trimming knife. There should now be no error message.
  4. If there is no excess thread, press the trim key to reset the trimming knife. There should now be no error message.

Important Note: The video shown above is for the EM-1010 model, but these steps can also be applied to other machines such as the 1501-TC and others with similar needle plates.
