SWIFT: Needle Not Going Down Or Moving

PUBLISHED

First, it's important to determine whether the issue is happening with ALL needles, or just one or a few.

If it's only happening with one or a few needles, it's possible that the issue could be related to the Upper Dead-End Point. Adjusting this point can often resolve the problem you're facing.

If the issue is happening with most or all of the needles, you can try to adjust the Upper Dead-End Point on the needles having issues to see if this resolves the problem. Otherwise, you will most likely need to replace the Reciprocator.

To adjust the upper dead-end point, please move the head to the affected needle and perform the adjustment below:

  1. Turn the Main Axis on the machine to 100°.

  2. Remove the front covers on your machine.

Remove the 4 screws circled in the picture below.

  3. Push down the top of the needle bar until the needle catches and stays down when let go.

  4. Loosen the Allen screw holding the Black Upper Dead-End Point Clamp. Once it is loosened, the clamp should slide up and down.

  5. Turn the Main Axis to exactly 360°. The needle will move up.

  6. Once the machine is at 360°push up the Black Clamp and tighten the Allen screw.

  7. Press the 100° button on the screen to reset the axis. The machine should cycle to 100° and should not have any needles down.

  8. Press the Scissor button to test the needle.

If the adjustment was performed correctly, the needle should cycle down and back up.
If the needle did not cycle down and up, you can try to repeat steps 3-6.

If after making the adjustment, multiple needles are still having issues, you will most likely need to replace the Reciprocator.
Below is a video guide for replacing the Reciprocator:

Once you remove the reciprocator from the machine, you will need to assemble the new reciprocator if you are using the spare included in the toolbox.

Below is the video on how to assemble the new reciprocator:
