When a “257 Error” is shown on your machine’s control panel, this is signaling a “Trim Blade Error” which means that one of the trim blades was not able to retract to the resting position. This could be due to one of your heads having nesting inside, or thread accumulation that won't allow the blade to retract.
Correcting a “257 Error” on CHT Models:
1. Go toward the right-hand side of the machine and toward the back.
2. Locate the cylindrical sensor that is under your machine (the sensor will have two Blue tips on both edges).
3. When a cutter error occurs, the black arm to the right of the sensor is not aligned with the blue portion of the sensor (located on the right side).
4. This black arm needs to be adjusted. (If you can’t move it, then take off all the needle plates and make sure no thread is interrupting the path of the blades.)
5. Proceed to rotate the black arm in any direction until you get it to line up with the sensor.
6. Once it is lined up, an amber or red light on the left side of the sensor will turn on.
7. Once the light is on, this indicates that your cutter error is cleared.
