EM-1010 How to Insert and Remove the Bobbin

Why You Need to Remove the Bobbin in Commercial Embroidery

In commercial embroidery, the bobbin plays a crucial behind-the-scenes role. While the top thread forms the visible part of your design, the bobbin thread locks each stitch from underneath, ensuring your embroidery stays secure, balanced, and professional-looking.

Over time, even the best bobbins run out of thread or collect lint and debris that can interfere with stitching quality. That’s why knowing when and how to remove and replace your bobbin is essential. A good bobbin delivers consistent tension, prevents thread breaks, reduces skipped stitches, and ensures clean, tight embroidery—especially at high production speeds.

Whether you’re troubleshooting thread issues or simply replacing an empty bobbin, understanding this small component can make a big difference in your stitch quality and machine performance.

How to insert and remove the bobbin on the EM-1010 embroidery machine.

  1. If this is the first time using the machine, open the bobbin door and remove the foam inside the rotary hook.
  2. Take your bobbin case in your left hand and insert the bobbin with the thread winding going in the clockwise direction with the right hand.
  3. Floss the thread through the bobbin case slit and pass it under the tension spring
  4. Wind the thread around the pig tail twice in a clockwise direction
  5. Pull on the thread and make sure the bobbin is unwinding in the clockwise direction while looking at the bobbin.
  6. Hold the case and bobbin between your thumb and index finger and place it into the rotary hook basket. Make sure the pigtail is in pointing upwards. Push them in until you hear a click.
  7. Close the door and you are ready to embroider
