EM 1010 Take-Up Lever Adjustment

PUBLISHED

What is a take up lever and why is it important?

The take-up lever is a critical part of a commercial embroidery machine’s threading and tension system. Its main job is to pull the thread up and back after each stitch, keeping the thread at the correct tension and preventing tangles or loops from forming on the fabric. Without a properly functioning take-up lever, you could end up with uneven stitches, loose loops, or thread breaks that slow production and compromise the quality of your embroidery. In short, the take-up lever ensures smooth, consistent stitching and plays a major role in producing clean, professional results.

It is possible to make this adjustment without having to rethread you machine or cutting the threads. However, if you are not careful, you will have to cut the threads. So when in doubt, cut the threads just above the take up levers.

  1. Cut the threads just above the take-up levers.
  2. Remove the 4 screws that hold the top knob cover and lift up slowly
  3. Disconnect the red and black 1cable and place cover aside
  4. Use a T-handled 3mm or 2.5mm (depending on model year) Allen Key or the long end of the Allen key and pry the silver screw (shown in illustration) loose. You will need to use as pair of pliers to give you enough leverage to break the screw loose. DO NOT REMOVE THE ALLEN KEY ONCE SCREW IS LOOSE
  5. With the main dial at 100 degrees, manually raise the take-up lever so that it matches the height and is aligned with other take-up levers and tighten the screw well
  6. You may now reconnect the red and black cable and place the cove back on and secure it with the four screws
