Why Isn't My DTG Platen Moving Back or Forward?

PUBLISHED

If you are unable to move the platen of your DTG printer forward or backward, then it is possible that the printer’s accordion needs to be adjusted. The accordion ensures that the platen can move forward and backward by itself.

The video above shows how to adjust the accordion properly by spraying it down with alcohol and then folding the accordion with your fingers so they are uniform and not bunching up.

Follow These Steps Below:

  1. Make sure you have a bottle of 50% Isopropyl Alcohol.
  2. Then pour it into a spray bottle (some arrive in a spray solution already).
  3. Afterward, grab the table of the platen and bring it toward you.
  4. Then push it as far back as you can.
  5. Take your spray bottle and saturate every area of the accordion.
  6. Once it is saturated, pinch each part of the accordion with your fingers and pull them towards you to fold them.
  7. Simultaneously grab one of the handles of the table and pull the table and pull the accordion slowly towards you at the same time.
  8. Make sure the accordion is folded (stacked and pressed up against each other)
  9. The alcohol is going to help keep the accordion sturdy once it starts to dry.
  10. Leave the accordion in its pressed position overnight and in the morning, normal operation of your DTG printer can resume.
  11.  You can also go to the back portion of the accordion and spray it as well.
