Why Isn't My Heat Press Turning On?

PUBLISHED

If your machine doesn’t turn on, this could either be due to a loose connection from shipping, or your power switch and/or circuit breaker may have tripped during use. This would mean that the rear cover of the heat press would need to be removed to check if it's something simple like the connections have come undone.

In some cases, replacing faulty components may be the only option if your heat press is completely unresponsive. This will require an inspection of the power switch, cables, connections, and motherboard if they have physical damage to them.

We Recommend the Following Steps

  1. Check the power switch and cables and make sure none of them are loose.
  2. If they are loose, unplug and plug them back in again. If needed, they can be clamped together with pliers.
  3. If the power switch or cables are burnt, they need to be replaced.

Replacing the Power Switch

The image above is an example of a Ikonix Mug Heat Press with a red rocker switch on the right side of the machine. Most of Ricoma’s heat presses have a similar or identical button.

What is a “rocker switch?”

Rocker Switches house a button for operation that can be pressed on either end like a seesaw to connect or disconnect an electrical circuit. They are often used as ON/OFF switches on the main power supplies for electronic devices.

What to do with a rocker switch that is broken:

If there is no light on the red “rocker switch,” you will need to replace the switch, which means you will need to replace the circuit breaker fuse.
