Marrying Process RP 200

PUBLISHED

Here are detailed step-by-step instructions and a helpful video that guides you through the process.

Here is the process to follow:

  1. Start by using a high-quality image to print.
  2. Insert the Transfer sheets (transparent paper) into the printer, glossy side facing down.
  3. Pre-heat the platens on the Heat press by closing the heat press for 300 seconds. This will ensure that both sides of the platen have an even distribution of heat.
  4. For the marriage layer, use the following order:

4a.A sheet(Transfer sheet) with the design face down.

4b.B paper(Adhesive sheet) with yellow facing up

4c. The matte side of the transparent transfer sheet should touch the adhesive side of the B paper 4d. Fold a corner of the adhesive paper to make it easier to peel later.

5. Place the papers with the image side down on the platen, place a sheet of Teflon on top, and close for 120 seconds at 310 degrees.

6. Once the heat press opens back up, work quickly. Take off the Teflon and use an extra shirt or rag to rub the back of the paper with sufficient pressure for 5-10 seconds. Then, grab the corner that you folded and start to peel low and close to the platen. Do not peel upwards, as this will cause the adhesive to pick up and come off. Peel low and slow- be consistent with the peel (don’t stop/skid). The ideal result is for there to be little to no color left on the white adhesive paper - there should just be a film of adhesive left on the transparent transfer paper.

7. After a successful peel, make sure to cut off corners or surrounding areas of the transfer sheet in case there is a border of white outline that can get transferred over from the marriage process. If not cut, this white glue will be transferred over in the final press to the shirt.

8. Place the desired garment on the heat press (Different Material shirts have varied times, please refer to the chart below). Then place the transfer sheet, now with that film of adhesive (that we completed during the marriage) on the garment. Top with the sheet of Teflon and press for 30 seconds at 310 degrees.

9. After 30 seconds, take the shirt off the heat press and wait for the transfer sheet to cool down before peeling it off. Once cooled, lift a corner to make sure the press is flush with the garment, then peel it off low, not upwards.

10. A final press is necessary to make sure the result is not as shiny or rough. The final press should be 10 seconds. Tailor the final press to your fabric. If the fabric is rough, the print might have trouble sinking in, so a 20-second final press might improve the feel more. If the fabric is softer, 10 seconds might be enough. Be careful not to overdo the final press as it can kill the vibrancy of the shirt.
